The Best Chicken Parmesan


  • 4 skinless boneless chicken breast halves
  • salt and pepper
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup Italian breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup spaghetti sauce
  • 4 slices mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh basil
  • 4 tablespoons butter

How to Make It

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 450 degrees F (230 degrees C). Pound chicken to flatten, season with salt and pepper.

Step 2

Beat eggs in a shallow bowl and set aside. Mix bread crumbs and 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese in a separate bowl, set aside.

Step 3

Sprinkle flour over chicken breasts, evenly coating both sides. Dip flour coated chicken in beaten eggs, then in breadcrumbs. Set aside for about 15 minutes.

Step 4

Heat butter in the skillet on medium-high heat. Cook chicken until golden on each side. Place chicken in a baking dish and top each breast with about equal spaghetti sauce, mozzarella cheese and fresh basil. Drizzle with 1 tablespoon olive oil.

Step 5

Bake in the preheated oven for 15 to 20 minutes until cheese is browned and bubbly. Serve with a side of spaghetti.
